Howdy everyone, welcome to the third part of this Intro to Art History series I'm working on, and today, we'll go over the Russian art movement Rayonism. This movement was pretty short lived, ranging from 1911-1913, and is primarily composed of two artists, Natalia Goncharova and Mikhail Larionov, and is also laden with elements of the Russian avant-garde and abstraction.

Howdy everyone, welcome to lesson two of "Intro to Art History". Today, we'll be going over the French art movement Nouveau Realisme, translated as New Realism. Starting in the 1960's, Nouveau Realisme was a reaction to post World War II Europe, a way to intersect life and art, challenge the illusion of art, as well as grounding art more in reality as opposed to a contrived idealization- something a lot of work at the time was prone to doing.Howdy everyone. So, I've decided to start a mini series on random movements in art history, in which I'll spend a number of words explaining what they are, their significance, and give a few examples of artists who participated in said movements. Today's lesson is on Neo-Impressionism, which was a late 19th century reaction to Impressionism in France. |
